A magnificent GEM Cameo Proof 1868 nickel! Deeply beaming mirrors are sleek, smooth and richly reflective, contrasting with a strong brilliance to the frosted texture of the raised reliefs. A tiny carbon fleck is seen in the center of the shield, but other than that the coin appears to be virtually flawless, even under careful inspection with a glass. The eye appeal is great. Only 600 Proofs were struck. PCGS 18, NGC 17, CAC 19. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,250. There are just three graded higher in the CAM designation at PCGS, all PR66+ CAM.
