- Lot Description
- We note a nice marbling of golden-brown and medium copper on both sides of this appealing mid grade New Jersey. The surfaces are generally hard and tight, with some nice gloss. There is some light, ancient surface build up at the letters OV in NOVA, tiny pit above the plow handles, but otherwise the obverse presents as smooth for the assigned grade. The reverse has several minor planchet voids and fissures, none of which are worthy of individual attention, some old, hard surface crust engages the letters RI in PLURIBUS and M in UNUM. With its distinctly and finely engraved mane on the horse's head, Maris 67-v is one of the more popular New Jerseys for type purposes. The engraver is the same as that of Maris 66-v, the latter the equally desirable (although scarcer!) Braided Mane variety.
