1873-S Liberty Eagle. AU-50 (PCGS). OGH. Grossly underrated as an issue, Garrett and Guth (2008) even compare the 1873-S to the fabled 1870-CC in terms of its overall rarity ranking within the Motto Liberty Eagle series. A rich-looking AU, this reddish-gold example is overall boldly defined with ample evidence of a semi-prooflike finish. Light, mottled haziness to the obverse is worthy of note, as are a few moderate-size abrasions in the field before Liberty's portrait.
