1899 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-61 (PCGS). Fully impressed, smooth-looking surfaces are a bit muted beneath pewter and pearl gray toning, thereby explaining the Proof-61 grade returned by PCGS. With only 330,000 pieces struck for the Philadelphia Mint's circulation strike 1899 Morgan dollar, survivors of the year's 846-coin Proof issue enjoyed heightened demand in the numismatic market.
