Lot Description

1772 Machin's Mills Halfpenny. Vlack 24-72C, W-7740. Rarity-6. GEORGIVS III. VG-10 (PCGS). CAC. This rarity from the Machin's Mills series will see plenty of bidding activity despite its well-worn appearance. The deep golden-tan surfaces exhibit few marks of any measure other than a small rim bruise on the obverse at 5 o'clock. Only tiny fragments of the obverse legend are present though the reverse enjoys nearly full legend and date, with weakness at the two of the date noted, the rim to the tops of TAN and NIA. An amply pleasing example of a rare American-made "British" copper.
