- 1839 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-9. Rarity-2. Silly Head. MS-64 BN (PCGS). OGH. An evenly toned, dark cocoa example with subtle mahogany accents throughout. The complexion is glossy and without distractions, leaving just a small area of dark toning under the N of ONE as the only convenient pedigree marker. The diagnostic crack on the obverse is well formed, spanning from 11 o'clock to 5 o'clock and is accompanied by a rim cud beneath the date as seen in Noyes Die State G/D. The Silly Head variety (#1748) is not listed on the Old Green PCGS holder. Provenance: From the Paradise Collection.
