- 1807 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-111b. Rarity-5. Large Stars, 50/20. Bearded Goddess. VF-30 (PCGS). A scarce and popular late die state, O-111b of the 1807 Capped Bust Half displays a distinct obverse die break (as struck) from Liberty's chin that explains the colorful "Bearded Goddess" epithet. This is a richly original mid-grade survivor awash in deep lavender-charcoal patina. A few old, dull abrasions are evident over and before the portrait--hardly a significant detraction for an early Half Dollar that saw extensive circulation. The remaining definition is suitably bold for the variety.
