Lot Description

1953-S Jefferson Nickel. MS-65 FS (PCGS). A notoriously challenging issue to locate sharp, offered here in a highly desirable PCGS MS-65 Full Steps holder. Brilliant on the reverse, the obverse is lightly toned in iridescent champagne-gold. Both sides are lustrous and satiny. The strike is soft in general, typical of the issue and suggestive of worn dies, but the steps leading up to the front of Monticello are sufficiently crisp to justify the coveted FS designation from PCGS. The Jefferson nickel Set Registry collector would be hard pressed to find a more suitable candidate as far as the 1953-S is concerned. Provenance: From the George "Buddy" Byers Buckeye Collection.
