- 1949-D Washington Quarter. MS-67+ (PCGS). CAC.
Deep, rich toning in steel-rose and burnt-orange patina dominates the in hand appearance, although the lower half of the obverse is a bit lighter in mottled silver-olive iridescence. Both sides are fully frosted in finish and expertly preserved. The 1949-D is the only mintmarked quarter issue of its date. Mintage: 10,068,400 coins, few survivors from which can compete with this upper end Superb Gem either technically or aesthetically.
