Lot Description

1808 Classic Cent. S-278. Rarity-3. EF-45 (PCGS). The premier issue in the conditionally challenging Classic Cent series, the 1808 is a perennial favorite among both type collectors and early Copper specialists. The planchet quality for the present example is quite nice, both sides presenting as relatively smooth despite having seen light circulation. Otherwise orange-brown in tone, the central- and upper-reverse are more deeply patinated in a medium-copper hue. A bit lightly struck, especially around the peripheries, yet still suitably bold in the context of the assigned grade.
