- 1836 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-6. Rarity-2. MS-64 BN (PCGS). CAC.
Visually delightful and technically superior, the complexion is painted in a marbling of mahogany and steely brown coloration. Silky luster floods the fields and bathes the design elements without interruption. It proves difficult to find a convenient pedigree marker, though the small, shallow mark at Liberty's brow will suffice. The definition is crisp throughout, despite evidence of fatigue equivalent to Noyes Die State C/B. The cud on the obverse now consumes most of the denticles between stars 7 and 8, and the reverse features a radial network of cracks linking the wreath to the rim. Nicely centered and lovely to examine in-hand.
Provenance: From the Paradise Collection.
