Lot Description
1900-S Barber Half Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS). A beautifully toned example from this conditionally scarce issue. Pearly rose-gold hues paint the centers, while vibrant shades of peach, teal and lime green patina glow from the peripheries. Sharply struck despite a late die state, with networks of thin die cracks running through the legends on both sides. Absolutely stunning to examine in-hand. This turn-of-the-century half dollar issue from the San Francisco Mint has a mintage of 2,560,322 pieces. While this is a generous total by the standards of the Barber series, circulation took a heavy toll on the issue. Typically encountered only in the lowest grades such as Good and VG, the 1900-S is scarce in the MS-60 to MS-64 range and rare as a Gem. This premium near-Gem offers superior eye appeal and is sure to excite the advanced type or date collector. PCGS Population: 22; 15 finer. PCGS# 6488. NGC ID: 24MB.
