- 1873 Silver Three-Cent Piece. Closed 3. Proof-67 * (NGC). The proof-only 1873 is the final issue in the Three-Cent Silver series, and all examples were struck using the Closed 3 date logotype. The present example is remarkably attractive, both sides layered in rich, well-blended toning in charcoal-blue, salmon-pink and champagne-apricot colors. The central reverse is the brightest area on either side, although more direct angles reveal shimmering reflectivity throughout. A wonderfully original specimen that is sure to please the advanced collector.
