Lot Description
THE SAN DIEGO COLLECTION From our Regency Auction 28, which featured the Konstantine Collection, where, as lot 38, this GEM was described as follows: "In a collection full of high grade and high end Capped Bust half dollars it might seem that these are available readily. THEY ARE NOT! This GEM 1821 has a classic look offering a vivid cartwheel luster that smoothly rolls unimpeded along both sides. The swirling luster brings the classic blue and golden hues to life. Fully struck up devices stand out wonderfully against the surrounding fields. A strong glass and intense scrutiny might reveal a stray line or two somewhere but the overall look is truly Premium Quality and worthy of the lofty grade assigned." Ex Heritage, January 2012, lot 3481; Northern Lights Collection, Heritage, April 2014, lot 4349; Konstantine Collection, Legend Rare Coin Auctions' Regency Auction 28, September 2018, lot 38, our consignor. PCGS 4, NGC 10. The most recent PCGS MS65 example to sell was the Link-Friend-Chicago Collection coin we sold in September 2021 for $12,338; prior to that, this coin sold in our sale of the Konstantine Collection, for $15,863. The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $16,500. VERY RARE any finer, there are just three graded finer in all grades at PCGS; we just sold the second finest, a PCGS MS66+ CAC for $47,000 in our offering of the Perfection Collection. Good luck!
