Lot Description

Lot 231 1835 N-12 R4 Head of 1834, Small 8 PCGS graded VF25.Rather glossy olive brown and chocolate with lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The surfaces look smooth to the unaided eye but a glass reveals uniform very fine granularity on all but the highpoints, which are smooth. No verdigris and only a few trivial contact marks, none notable. MDS with the usual die crack on the obverse but before the radial extension to the dentils even with the bottom of star 9. Our grade is VF20 sharpness net F15.The attribution and Ellsworth provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Estimate Value $750 - UP Ex the "Butternut Hoard" 5/3/1996-Colonel Steven K.
