Breen Die State II. Smooth, medium olive-brown surfaces show scattered handling marks, as expected for the grade, with only a few minor digs in the lower left obverse field and a tiny edge nick on the reverse outside the second letter S in STATES warranting individual mention. Both sides are nicely centered and boldly to sharply defined. This scarce variety is instantly identified by the unfinished hair detail at the top of Liberty's head. The Widmer Family specimen is a pleasing example that is tied for CC#4 in the Bland census with an EAC grade of VF30, and also tied for CC#4 in the Noyes census, albeit graded EAC VF35, net VF30 therein.
