Lot Description

Seldom offered Stars on Obverse Half Dime. Reasonably well struck with all major design elements well-formed and a delicate golden patina throughout. Close observation with a glass reveals minimal surface marks and the slightest hint of wear on the high points. PCGS 6, NGC 4, CAC 2. Only 15 graded higher at PCGS. The price guide lists the value as $3,250 and the CAC price guide value is $3,880. There are no recent auction records for this date in any grade, and the last record for this grade (non-CAC) was $2,215 in 2012. Few of the original mintage of 220,000 survived making this date one of the scarcest Variety 2 Half Dimes and a must buy for anyone attempting to complete a set. Cert. Number 42232519 PCGS # 4334.00
