1856 Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-61 (NGC). Vivid orange-gold and pale rose patina is seen on both sides of this sharply struck and satiny example. An otherwise plentiful issue by 1850s Liberty Head half eagle standards, the 1856 is elusive at the present level of preservation, and this coin represents an important bidding opportunity for the specialist.
