Description du lot
Just a "perfect" XF example of this important Carson City $5. Soft golden surfaces show traces of olive-green. Problem free light wear in the fields and on the reliefs are evidence of use in wild west commerce. The eye appeal, for the assigned grade is very high end! Only 16,980 were struck and survival estimates range from 70-80 (per Doug Winter), to 92 (PCGS CoinFacts), to 125-150 (Rusty Goe). This one came "out of the woodwork" from a South American collector, as such it is totally fresh to the market, making its probable first ever auction appearance here. PCGS 5, NGC 6, CAC 3. It has been six years (!) since the last PCGS graded coin sold in auction. That one was CAC approved, but had no where near the eye appeal of this one, and realized just a hair under $5,500. Today, PCGS lists a value of $9,500. With its great looks, we know this one will face fierce bidding competition when it crosses the block! Cert. Number 35694729 PCGS # 8326
