Losbeschreibung: 126.8 grains. This is the famous Norweb Nelson-4, referenced recently in our August 2024 sale of the Syd Martin Nelson-4 as, "the Norweb 'AU-55' which is undoubtedly really a Mint State coin that was called 'among the finest known' in 1988." As the more recent PCGS certification confirms, this is a fully Mint State coin, and it is nicely struck from lightly clashed dies on a rolled copper flan. The detail is bold to sharp throughout, the impression well centered, although with broader denticulation along the right border than elsewhere. There is also a planchet cutter mark at 2 o'clock on that side, although it is not easily discerned through the holder. Smooth, hard and frosty with warm medium brown patina on the obverse, the reverse a bit lighter in golden-brown.
