Lot Description

One of only three mintmarked issues in the Indian quarter eagle series - all of which are from the Denver Mint - the 1914-D is an underrated issue that actually ranks as the third scarcest issue of the type in terms of total number of coins known. For knowledgeable collectors, therefore, this issue is a find in both circulated and Mint State grades. The James A. Stack, Sr. Collection offers a lovely example at the AU level, with deep olive undertones to dominant orange-gold color. A thin graze in the upper right reverse field is noted for accuracy, but no other handling marks are readily apparent during in-hand viewing. Boldly defined overall with a full, crisp D mintmark.
