Lot Description
1889 Morgan Silver Dollar. Proof-66 (PCGS). An exceptionally well produced and preserved survivor from a mintage of 811 Proofs. Warmly toned in rose-gray patina, both sides reveal pretty pale gold, powder blue and light pink undertones as the surfaces dip into a light. The strike is universally sharp from the rims to the centers, and the appearance is expectably smooth for the assigned grade. Most Proof 1889 silver dollars are flatly struck in the centers, noticeably marked, or both, which fact confirms the conditionally rare nature of the present example. PCGS# 7324. NGC ID: 27ZJ. PCGS Population: 13; 2 finer in this category (Proof-67+ finest). Provenance: From the Alexander Collection. Acquired from Numismatic Gallery, November 1948. Company envelope with provenance notation included.
