- Lot Description
- FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION Here is another really cool Longacre Pattern Liberty Head nickel, struck on a nickel planchet, with a plain edge. Listed as Rarity-6+, it is quite scarce indeed. Highly reflective mirrored fields beam wildly all over. While these are not listed as restrikes, looking at this one, it appears to have been a later strike from this die pair with some minor rust in the fields, a bulging die, and a spidery die crack connecting UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the obverse. There is an area of light haze on the obverse field, which is typical of this alloy, and we note a touch of high point weakness on the obverse devices, normal for nickel strikings. Overall, appealing and difficult to locate. PCGS 2, NGC 2. This coin has sold twice in the last decade for about $1,600 and the current Collectors Universe value is $3,000. what a great opportunity of any collector of nickels, or patterns. Cert. Number 356495-005 PCGS # 61312
