Our multiple offerings for the issue in this sale notwithstanding, the circulation strike 1859 $3 is scarce to rare in all grades. Only 15,589 pieces were produced, and most succumbed to melting during the later decades of the 19th century. This fortunate survivor is lightly circulated with plenty of sharp to full detail remaining. Handsome honey-gold color with outlines of rose-apricot to the design elements.
