Lot Description

The Crimson Collection. For the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia, the mint struck proof coinage in higher mintages than typical, including that of the dime. This example portrays obvious cameo presentation which benefits from a pleasing, narrow band of royal gold lying next to the rim. Only very faint hairlines distribute into the fields, and a diagonal pre-striking hairline on the portrait remains, joined by another near the bottom of the wreath.
