Lot Description
THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION PART II SLEEPER ISSUE and popular as the final date of the Civil War era. Bordering in a Deep Cameo with stark contrast between radiant, mirrored fields and precision struck, richly frosted design elements. A light right obverse field break in the radiance and a few swirly reverse hairlines above the eagles head keep this coin from a higher grade. A whisper of electric amber and tangerine border toning add to the overall aesthetics. PCGS 22, NGC 16. 13 coins grade finer, most of which are PR65 and a sole PR-67. PCGS Price Guide is $3,500. A hard date to obtain in Gem status, especially with the tiny mintage of just 470 coins in Proof. It’s been 10 long years since a non-CAC example sold in a major auction where it brought $3,220. We expect some spirited bidding when this tough date crosses the block. Cert. Number 34030216 PCGS # 86418.00
