1859-S Liberty Head Double Eagle. AU-50 (PCGS). This incredibly handsome piece is richly toned in saffron-gold hues, with deeper amber patina atop the high points. Just light, uniform wear is apparent throughout, with faint prooflike reflectivity remaining in the fields. Considerable luster surrounds the design elements, complementing the overall smooth and unblemished surfaces. A beautiful and exceptionally preserved example of this Type I issue. PCGS# 8928.
