Lot Description

Richly original olive-charcoal patina has an iridescent quality that allows vivid undertones of champagne-gold, pinkish-apricot and powder blue to shine forth nicely as the surfaces dip into a light. Sharply struck with strong reflectivity to the finish. Although 1,355 half dollars were struck in Proof in 1880, premium Cameo coins such as this are in the minority among survivors.
