1883-S Liberty Head Half Eagle. MS-64 (PCGS). CAC. Unsurpassed for the issue in a PCGS holder, this near-Gem exhibits a remarkably smooth appearance to frosty rose-orange surfaces. It is fully struck, as well, and sure to please even the most discerning numismatist. From a mintage for the issue of 83,200 pieces, most of which saw some use in commerce. Indeed, the present specimen, graded MS-64, is tied for finest certified among 1883-S half eagles examined by PCGS, and it is the only example in this grade to have received approval from CAC.
