- Offered is a highly desirable strike and condition rarity among Proof Motto Liberty Seated dollars. Lightly and attractively toned in mauve, blue and champagne-gold, both sides readily reveal a strongly cameoed finish as the coin rotates under good lighting. The strike is razor sharp throughout, and the surfaces are very smooth for a type that is typically offered no finer than Proof-64.<p>625 Proof silver dollars were produced in the Philadelphia Mint in 1867, many survivors of which have been maimed by hairlines and polishing, though often with good intentions. The present example is delightfully free from distracting blemishes of any sort and is an outstanding representative of the Liberty Seated with Motto design type.
