Description du lot
140.0 grains. One of the most perfect examples of this variety we've ever seen, with ideal light brown color across smooth, glossy surfaces. The centering is positively ideal on a choice, well made planchet. We see no flaws on either side, neither pre-striking planchet issues nor post-striking defects. The rim is a little crude over Q of QUARTA, and the legends are a little soft as they bleed into the rounded rim at the tops of the letters, but a collector with limitless resources could look for a prettier Ryder-2 for the next 50 years and come up empty. The die state is the earliest seen, with no crack at the date at all. Grading coins is a fine way to rank most of them. The coin is graded lower than the coin in the previous lot, but grade doesn't mean much on Vermont Landscapes. This piece will bring more money, as savvy specialists rush to the opportunity to add this extraordinary piece to their collection.
