Lot Description
1943 25c PCGS MS67 (Doubled Die Obverse) DLRC #: 1986999 // PCGS #: 95820 Only three examples of this particularly strong variety have been graded by PCGS in MS67 condition. None have sold in public auction, allowing this piece to be the first to ever enter the marketplace. Per PCGSCoinfacts.com: The 1943 Doubled Die Obverse Washington Quarter is by far the scarcest major doubled die for the entire Washington quarter dollar series. For over twenty years, PCGS has only graded about two dozen 1943 doubled die quarters. Since the coins bring hundreds of dollars even in lower grades, the PCGS population data is a good indicator of this coins scarcity. The doubling is easily seen on the motto "In God We Trust" and it is also doubled on the word "Liberty." Finding a coin in any grade is a challenge. Even circulated coins only come up for auction every couple of years. Mint State coins come up for auction even less frequently and when they do, they command very stong premiums. * Category : Quarters * Series : Washington Quarters (1932-98) * Type : Silver * Years for Type : 1932-1964 * Strike : Business * Denomination : Quarter dollar * Mint Location : Philadelphia * Designer : John Flanagan * Composition : 90% silver; 10% copper * Weight : 6.25g * Edge Type : Reeded
