1813 Capped Bust Half Dollar. O-101. Rarity-2. 50 C./UNI. MS-62 (NGC). A lovely and scarce Mint State example of this bold naked eye Guide Bookvariety. Steel-blue patina adorns both sides, the color yielding to virtual brilliance in the center of the obverse. Fully struck with razor sharp detail throughout, satiny surfaces are uncommonly lustrous and smooth for the assigned grade. Of the literally hundreds of die varieties available in the design type, 1807 to 1836, the 1813 50 C./UNI offered here is arguably among the best known and most popular. When the variety is coupled with a coin of solid Mint State quality as here, the sky's the limit once the bidding begins. PCGS# 6104. NGC ID: 24F2.
