- 1896 Pattern Five Cents. Judd-1770, Pollock-1987. Rarity-6-. Nickel-Copper Alloy. Plain Edge. Proof-62 (PCGS).
75% copper, 25% nickel. Obv:A scroll inscribed LIBERTY crosses a Federal shield, behind which are two crossed poles topped with a liberty cap and eagle. The Latin motto E PLURIBUS UNUM is above, the date 1896 is below, and 13 stars are arranged at the border seven left, six right. Rev:A curved olive sprig encloses the denomination 5 CENTS with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border. Semi-reflective in finish beneath a dusting of pretty iridescent gold toning.
