- Lustrous and frosty surfaces retain much brilliance, but also show wisps of iridescent champagne-pink and silver-apricot toning as the coin rotates under a light. The first Denver Mint issue of the type, the 1932-D is also one of the rarest due to a mintage of 436,800 pieces. Although this figure is nearly 30,000 coins greater than the mintage of the 1932-S, at grades above VF the 1932-D emerges as the key issue in the Washington series. With Gems in MS-65 and higher grades especially rare and far more costly, attractive MS-64s such as this offer excellent value for astute collectors.
