1842-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 7-E. Small Date, Small Letters. EF-45+ (PCGS). A richly colored example featuring bold shades of deep honey and rose-gold. Striking detail is pleasingly sharp by Dahlonega Mint standards. This coin is sure to have great appeal for advanced Southern gold enthusiasts. The 1842-D Small Date, Small Letters is a conditionally challenging half eagle with most survivors well worn and grading no higher than EF-40.
