1865 Nickel Three-Cent Piece. Proof-65 Cameo (NGC). The premiere proof three-cent nickel, the 1865 is also the rarest and most conditionally date in this specimen coin series. Important from the start as a carefully preserved and solidly graded Gem, the example we offer here also possesses an uncommon degree of field to device contrast to support the Cameo designation from NGC. Minimally toned in pale silver and gold iridescence, with a full strike and nary a distracting blemish in evidence.
