Lot Description

A bright, frosty example with bright wheat-gold color blanketing both sides. The devices are universally bold in striking detail. Although still scarce in an absolute sense, the 1863-S is now obtainable in patience in AU and lower Mint State grades thanks to the discovery of several hundred coins with the treasure of the SS Republic and SS Brother Jonathan shipwrecks. This is a nice-looking BU example that is worthy of a strong bid.
