1869-S Seated Liberty Dime. Fortin-102. MS-65 (NGC). Although more plentiful than all other S-mint Seated Dimes from the 1860s, the 1869-S (450,000 coins struck) is still scarce in EF/AU and very scarce in Mint State. With full satin luster and nary a distracting abrasion in evidence, the Gem we offer here is decidedly rare from a condition standpoint. Vivid golden-rose patina is both bolder and more widely distributed over the obverse. Generally sharp in strike, blunt definition to the S mintmark is diagnostic of the Fortin-102 die marriage.
