Lot Description
1845-O Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-101, Die Pair WB-12. Rarity-4. Late Die State. Large O. No Drapery. AU-58 (PCGS). CAC. Advanced die polishing on the obverse has removed most of the extra drapery folds at Liberty's right (facing) elbow, creating a late die state of this issue that has gained tremendously in popularity due to its inclusion in recent edition of the Guide Book. Of note is that several die marriages of the 1845-O half dollar display this No Drapery feature in later states. Further confirming the advanced die state of this particular WB-12 example are spindly die cracks (as struck) on the obverse to the left of the scroll end and on the reverse through the letter M in AMERICA and at the left foot of the first letter A in the same word. Sharply struck with considerable luster remaining, light silver-olive toning is much bolder on the reverse.
