Lot Description

Bolender-9, BB-166, the "apostrophe" reverse, so-named because of a triangular die crack up and right of the final "S" in STATES. In this die-state (IV perhaps -- it's tough to be sure due to wear) the obverse has an apostrophe of its own, in the form of a tiny die chip beneath 1 in the date. A fantastic and original example for the grade, lovely lilac-grey patina endows both sides with excellent appeal, augmented by nice charcoal accents in the borders.
