A stellar survivor of a paltry mintage of only 470. Coin collecting took a bit of a back burner during the Civil War, and already low Proof mintages fell and few SUPERB GEMS of this date have survived the 150+ years since the end of the war. We know how this date comes, Legend Rare Coin Auctions and our sister firm, Legend Numismatics have handled some of the FINEST examples of this date to cross the block. Intensely brilliant underlying mirrors gleam boldly with strong reflection. Iridescent splashes of light blue and warm orange surround the sharply struck frosted devices. The surfaces are FLAWLESS and the eye appeal is excellent. Only 470 Proofs were struck. PCGS 22, NGC 8, CAC 5. There are 12 graded PR66+ CAM and just five finer.
