Lot Description: 1812 Classic Head Cent. S-288. Rarity-2. Large Date. EF-40 (PCGS). Dominant deep copper patina, both sides also exhibit intermingled autumn-brown highlights where original mint color was last to fade, especially the reverse. Isolated peripheral features are a bit soft, but all major design elements are appreciable, and Liberty's portrait is quite sharp overall. The obverse is microscopically rough with wispy handling marks noted for both sides, but this is clearly a desirable EF example of the conditionally challenging Classic Head cent.
