Lot Description
1870 Pattern Dime. Judd-842, Pollock-934. Rarity-7+. Aluminum. Plain Edge. Proof-64+ Cameo (PCGS). CAC. Obv:Standard Silver design with a bust of Liberty facing right, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST on a scroll below. Liberty is wearing a cap ornamented with three stars. Rev:The denomination 10 CENTS and the date 1870 are surrounded by a wreath of cotton and corn, with the word STANDARD inscribed along the upper border. A lively, overall brilliant specimen with appreciable contrast between satiny devices and well-mirrored fields. The Judd-1842 is a popular Standard Silver issue, a prolific series that would make a very interesting pattern subset to contemplate collecting. Examples are rare with the uspatterns.comwebsite accounting for fewer than half a dozen in numismatic hands. PCGS Population: 1; 2 finer in this category (both Proof-65 Cameo). PCGS# 800024.
