- Lot Description
- Overton-108a attributes easily and instantly by locating the "E/A" in STATES, with deep die clashes denoting the middle die-state. Technically, this example shows only a single clashed die, while there are later example showing at least double clashed dies, exemplified by an incredible NGC MS-68 "star" example sold at auction about six years ago, but the Overton guide does not distinguish die states specifically by the number of clashes. Fifty-thousand dollars might pick up the aforementioned, famous MS-68 "star" example, but the collector of more ordinary means can only be delighted with an opportunity to obtain such a stellar, fully original example like this. Light circulation has flattened the cheek slightly, and a few of the eagle's feathers have been rubbed down slightly, but noticeable luster remains, and the tan-grey patina could not be improved upon.
