Lot Description

1652 Massachusetts Bay Colony Oak Tree Shilling. Noe-1, Salmon 1-A, W-430. Rarity-3. IN at Left. VF-30 (PCGS). 68.36 grains. About as choice as could be imagined at this grade level, with deep golden gray surfaces showing hints of luster and faint pale blue undertones. Struck on a nice oval planchet, curved elegantly and retaining all legends. The tree is well detailed, as is central reverse. About the only defect this coin has is honest wear. It would be hard to conjure a better VF type coin. Of this coin, Mr. Craige noted just one thing on his envelope: CHOICE!
