1853-D Liberty Half Eagle. Winter 29-W. Medium D. AU-58 (PCGS). Here is a very sharply struck, pale orange-golden example that is drenched in rich frosty-velvet mint bloom. The surface quality is far smoother than typically encountered on specimens of this No Motto type, let alone this <b>very rare</b> date. In fact, this splendid coin is easily among the top 2%-4% of the known survivors from this highly collectible issue! This example ranks as the finest ever certified by PCGS within the "Medium D" category.<br />
