Lot Description

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 55-l, W-5300. Rarity-5. Plain Shield, PLURIRUS. VG-10 (PCGS). 148.1 grains. Broken B punch in PLURIBUS resembles a second R. Deep golden tan with lighter golden-tan highlights throughout. We note some uniform microgranularity under low magnification. Evenly worn but not noticeably marked to the unassisted eye. Obverse rim through bottoms of date numerals, reverse details nicely centered. A scarce variety from the Rahway Mint facilities. Choice and appealing in spite of its lengthy stay in circulation.
