- 1783 John Chalmers Shilling. W-1790. Long Worm. VF-25 (PCGS). 47.84 grains. Beautifully toned on both sides in tones of blue, pale green, and gold in a perfect melange. Ideally centered on the reverse, well detailed but for a minor area of softness at the base of 83. The obverse is trivially aligned to 9 o'clock, with full denticles from 10 o'clock to 7 o'clock. The stop after S of ANNAPOLIS is soft, otherwise this side is also nicely detailed. Some trivial hairlines and little marks are visible, none severe or fresh. The color and sharpness place this among the top flight of VF Chalmers shillings. A perfect type coin, one that richly showcases the designs of this historic coin.
