Lot Description

Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-103. An oval section shows between forecurl and headband for the obverse die, used on three consecutive die-marriages. On the reverse, a number of diagonal bands within the shield's vertical stripes finalize attribution. Deep chestnut-grey pronounces this a superbly original example, and also subdues underlying luster to a noticeable extent. Overall striking weakness seems to be somewhat common although sharper examples of O-103 can be found.
